PI: Dr. Maximilian Hartmuth | HI: University of Vienna | Duration: 2/2018-7/2023
Welcome to the website of a European research project that studied the architectural heritage of Austro-Hungarian rule in Bosnia-Herzegovina. It focused on mosques, town halls, and other types of buildings designed and built there in a particular, Orientalizing style.
The project was managed by Dr. Maximilian Hartmuth and was hosted at the University of Vienna’s Department of Art History, thanks to generous funding, for the duration of five years (2018-23), by the European Research Council. It employed several researchers from different fields of expertise with the aim to increase insight about this historical phenomenon by way of scientific publications and events.
